The Pataskala Town Hall was constructed in 1916 with the Town Hall on the first floor and the 350-seat Sterling Theater on the second floor. The only access is a staircase. This was opened during the silent days. The theater continued to show first run movies into the 1970’s. After being closed for decades, members of the community formed The Historic Pataskala Town Hall, Inc. to renovate and restore the theater. Today the Sterling Theater is used primarily for stage presentations both local and professional. The Pataskala Police Department now occupies the first floor.

The March 8, 1916 issue of The American Contractor said that the new Town Hall at Pataskala had been designed by the Columbus architectural firm Rusk & Sheets (F. S. Rusk and Cree Sheets.) Photos of the Town Hall show a handsome Colonial Revival exterior. The official web site of the Sterling Theater gives the current seating capacity as 300.
In September 2021, more upgrades were announced for the “Old Town Hall”. A new HVAC system has already been installed to supply air condition to the Sterling Theater. The bottom floor is now occupied by the Pataskala Chamber of Commerce and the city’s utility department.
