The Liberty Theatre was opened in 1919. It closed as a silent movie theatre on January 14, 1930 with the silent John Ford film “Fazil” starring Charles Farrell. Charlie Brent reopened a short-lived theatre in downtown Idabel named the Brent Theatre. It opened with Lionel Barrymore in “Washington Masquerade” on September 16, 1932. It featured RCA sound and used the tagline, “Always the Best Pictures in Town”. Just four months later, the theatre was purchased in January of 1933 by Burrell Terrell.
The Brent Theatre was closed permanently after the February 27, 1933 showing of Carole Lombard and Clark Gable in “No Man of Her Own” supported by an instalment of the Paramount short subject, “Hollywood on Parade.” Terrell moved the theatre to a new location and, while being equipped, changed names from the proposed New Brent to its opening moniker of the State Theatre.

The Liberty Theatre opened at this address in 1919. It closed as a silent theater on January 14, 1930 with the Howard Hawks' film “Fazil.” It was used sporadically in 1930 and 1931 as a venue for live events. It had one more brief chance at movie exhibition when it was wired for sound.
