The Moonstruck Drive-In opened September 4, 2020.
Playing first-run movies and classic films every weekend. The present price of admission is $30 a carload and are pet friendly. The first movie to open with was John David Washington in “Tenet”. The permanent screen is connected to shipping containers with food trucks for concessions. A second screen was added March 20, 2021 and a third screen was added on April 30, 2021.
The company also opened a second location in Austin in June 2020 with “Fast and Furious 9”. It is located at the Circuit of the Americas race track on Lot J. They also have a 200 car capacity.
The Moonstruck Drive-In at East River was badly damaged by a tornado in May 16, 2024. Repairs and renovations were carried out and it reopened with 1-screen on June 23, 2024 with the animated feature “Inside Out 2”. Screen 2 reopened on June 27, 2024.
In early-September 2024 it was announced that the operators of the drive-in were looking to find a new location as soon as possible. It was announced in March 2025 that the Moonstruck Drive-In will be relocated to and East Downtown address 45 N. Delano Street, Houston, TX 77003 and it has a new page on Cinema Treasures.

here’s the history, this drive in was opened in September 4th, 2020. Screen 2 Was Added In March 20, 2021. And Screen 3 Was Added In April 30th, 2021
on 5/16/24, Moonstruck was devastated by a tornado. We are hoping to get funds together to rebuild our screens, but we do not currently have an estimate date to re-open.
On 6/20/2024, We have completed the first phase of our rebuild and renovation, and we look forward to having you back soon! Starting 6/23/2024, This Drive In is reopened with 1 screen
On june 27, 2024 screen 2 reopened
“Due to unforeseen circumstances and changes on our current property, the drive-in will need to relocate its operations as soon as possible. If you know of a suitable lot or have any leads/further information please reach out to us.” per their Face book page.
as of March 21st 2025, this drive in will be relocated to 45 Delano St Houston, TX 77003 and will be temporary closed until reopens.
