With Ernest Borgnine (and other Hollywood co-stars) in Sydney to finish filming UA’s “Summer of the Seventeenth Doll”, Hoyts & UA publicists came up with a stunt for the launch of UA’s ”The Vikings” (in which Borgnine appears) on 5th February 1959. As the cast were due to leave town imminently, the current Regent attraction was moved over the road to the Century in order to make way for the event, which involved having the “Doll” actors attend opening night and cement render their names Grauman’s Chinese fashion in the Regent foyer. The ballyhoo garnered front page reporting the next day.
