Newspaper articles confirmed that the Travis Air Force Base Theatre operated as early as Spring 1967.

I was stationed at Travis from 91 - 95. I saw quite a few movies in that theater. I figure by now base theaters would be multiplexes. But because of digital projection most have closed. I live in Tampa the theater on MacDill AFB only shows free movies for base personel occationally onn the weekends.

Travis Air Force Base did had an earlier first-run movie theater that operated during the early-1970s. Unfortunately I cannot find as much details about it.

I just about choked when I saw the quote “The outcome was the purchase of a $90,000 Christie Solaria One digital projector and a $30,000 screen, making 3D possible”. As someone who sold and installed back in the day, the Solaria One, or even the One+, was at most a $35K projector and a 3D screen that it would be capable of filling would be about $10K.
