The Huckleberry Theater in Comanche held an open house on September 2, 1961, according to a note in the Duncan Banner earlier that week. “Owners of the theater are Mr. and Mrs. William Hance who have lived in Comanche all their lives.” By September 10, the Huckleberry Theater was advertising in the Banner, though the advertisements never mentioned an opening date.
Boxoffice reported on October 23, 1961, “Bill Nance opened the new Huckleberry Theater in Comanche”.
