Boulevard Rink

Located in the Westcotes district to the southwest of the city centre. The Boulevard Rink was opened in the early-1900’s. It had some use as a cinema around 1909 and was so successful that a purpose built Boulevard Electric & Variety Theatre was built adjacent, opening in July 1910 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Boulevard Rink then continued as a roller skating rink into at least 1932. Special events were also held, such as The Ideal Home Exhibition in 1912 and boxing matches as well as dances.

Today the building is in use as The Venue@DMU a facility at De Montfort University.
