Picturedrome

Located in the Spinney Hills district to the east of the city centre, on Mere Road close to Green Lane Road. Originally built as a Wesleyan Mission Hall, by 1910 it had been converted into Clayton’s Picturedrome, operated by E.C. Clayton. It was later renamed Mere Lane Picturedrome aka Picturedrome and was operated by High Street Cinemas Ltd. It was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system in the early-1930’s and operated until around 1944. It was listed as (Closed) in the 1947 & 1948 editions of Kine Year Book and it never re-opened.

It has since been demolished and the empty lot of land, on what today is the beginning of Brmabling Road, is used for car parking.
