The Mirage Theatre was downtown Axtell’s second movie theatre after its first had burned down. The Mirage Theatre appears to have opened in 1916. The town never surpassed 400 residents so operational margins were thin. When sound came to movies, the Mirage Theatre became just that unable to convert to talkies and closing at the end of the 1920’s.
