The Modern Woodmen Hall Theatre was a silent-era attempt at a regularly scheduled movie theatre in Loomis. The Hall was operating in 1911 as a live event venue and fraternal hall. It then moved to part time movie house operation with modifications and becoming the Modern Woodmen Hall Theatre.
The town’s second effort at a regular movie theatre, another silent house, opened in 1922 called the Plaza Theatre by L.J. Wymore. When it went out of business within a year, the MWA diversified its offering continuing in the 1930’s when the building was sold.
