Palace Theatorium

The 1914 Sanborn shows ‘Moving Pictures’ being shown in the easternmost storefront of a large stone-fronted commercial block, the main portion of which was the Arlington Hotel. The building dated to sometime before 1892, and the portion with the theatre was a feed store on the 1908 map.

Although not a small space, this was likely not competitive with the larger Gem Theatre up the hill. The 1923 map shows this space as apartments.

The Arlington Hotel later became the Marvin Hotel, and the building survived until the 1980’s, when it was destroyed in a fire.
