Casino d'Arras

Located in the city centre of Arras, in the north of France. The city was virtually destroyed during World War I. The 1,300-seat Casino was built in the early-1920’s. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels. Despite its name, it was never used as a casino, but from the start it was a concert hall and theatre. In 1950 it became a full time cinema which closed in 1977.

It was taken over by the City. In 1983 it was renovated to the plans of architect Pierre Rousso. The seating capacity was reduced to 930, with 582-seats in the orchestra and 348-seats in the balcony.

Following a renovation in 2013, a 293-seat auditorium has been created in the previously unused basement. This room can also have its seating removed to accommodate 600-standees
