The Pantages Theatre opened in 1906, one of the early theatres in the vaudeville chain founded by Seattle impresario Alexander Pantages. In 1909, the house was rebranded as the Panama Theatre and was presenting a combination of vaudeville and motion pictures. After operating under a series of different owners, the Panama Theatre closed for good in 1916. The wood-framed building it had occupied burned to the ground in 1923.
