The 230-seat Plains Theatre was opened by 1939. It was listed as (Closed) in the 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbook. The 290-seat Plains Theatre was operating by 1943. The 1950 Film Daily Year Book included the Plains Theatre in Plains, KS, with 350 seats.
Boxoffice reported on February 19, 1955 that Walter Fletcher of Meade had purchased the Plains Theatre from Fred Harrison and planned to reopen it that month, equipped for CinemaScope. The Plains Theatre was still open in 1957.
