In 1911, electricity was brought to Twisp and the first movie house opened. The Twisp Theatre was damaged by fire in 1947 but later reopened. It was destroyed by fire in November 1953.
A new Twisp Theatre was built in 1954 and was still open in 1957.

They May 22, 1954 issue of Boxoffice said that new theater was to be built in Twisp: “The Charles Nelsons have signed a contract for the building for a new theatre in Twisp, Wash., to replace the one that burned down last year.”
Boxoffice, Nov. 21, 1953: “Fire destroyed the Twisp Theatre, landmark since 1904 when it was constructed by a stock company of Twisp business men and ranchers. The building was of wood frame construction. Apparently the fire started in the second story apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nelson, owners and operators of the theatre. The Nelsons were out of town at the time of the fire, visiting their daughter Miki in Ellensburg, where she attends college.”
