The Royal was opened in 1910. It was modernised to the plans of architect M. Peynet in 1949 when it was operated by the Gaumont chain. Seating was provided for 405 in the orchestra and 200 in the balcony. It was closed in August 1985.
The former cinema has been converted into a 5* boutique hotel named Hotel Le Royal.
