The Star Airdome Theatre launched just behind the downtown business district of El Reno by Ernest Jennings on May 18, 1908 with vaudeville spotlighting The Three Kobers as the headlining act. When it launched in the 1909, the Star was renamed as the Palace Airdome Theatre - now the summer co-location venue for the short-lived Palace Theatre on Bickford Avenue. It launched May 20, 1909 with live vaudeville headed by Ward & West.
When the venue re-launched in the 1910 season, it was the summer co-location of the People’s Theatre which operated from 1897 to 1911 in downtown El Reno. The opening show was July 3, 1910 with a live show, “A Dixie Darling.” When the venue launched for its new season on May 14, 1911, it remained the People’s Airdome -the first time its name had held for two consecutive seasons. Tickets were sold at the Bon Ton Confectionery which served as the de facto concession stand for the Airdome.
The Star/Palace/People’s Airdome did not reopen for the 1912 season and was razed. It would become a residential property. The Fortner Airdome was constructed in 1913 at 114-116 West Woodson operating for two seasons.
