There is a lot of lost and confusing information involving this theater, but I’ll go through it as best as I can.
Only operating during the summer months (like the Riverside Airdome), the Hippodrome Garden Theatre opened its doors on June 14, 1913. It would later shorten its name to simply the Hippodrome Theatre.
Only operating for a couple of months, the theatre temporarily closed for good, and the equipment was taken out of site. However, this does not end the story.
On June 11, 1914, R.W. Gracy, the owners of Crystal Lake’s Star Theatre and Gem Theatre and the Stoffel’s Hall in McHenry, had took his time to reopen the Hippodrome Theatre as the New Hippodrome Theatre.
This did not last very long as it closed for the final time in 1915.
