Cameraphone Theater

The Sharpsburg Cameraphone Theatre launched on at 603 Main Street in downtown Sharpsburg on September 13, 1913. The 500-seat venue was the seventh Cameraphone location and its largest capacity to date. The location was an immediate success and was doubled in size just a little over two years later incorporating 603-607 Main Street. New manager Francis A. Mackert oversaw the transformation of the Sharpsburg Cameraphone.

The venue relaunched with a grand re-opening on December 10, 1915 with its larger capacity, a Smith Unit Pipe Organ and new screen. Eddie Belson of the Family Theatre would take on the venue in 1916. O.P Denson and A. Goldstein were the final operators of the venue. It was destroyed by fire on February 27, 1923 in what was a projection room fire that shot flames some 20 feet about the theatre and permanently ended the venue shy of its tenth anniversary. The property was twice replaced and as of the 2020’s featured a multi-unit condo.
