The Little Theatre opened November 18, 1939, with Henry Fonda in “Young Mr. Lincoln”.
The San Juan Record noted the theatre, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Claude Foy, was a replacement for their first theatre in Monticello, which opened on Main Street June 15, 1936. That 120-seat theatre was said to be located in the Moab Garage warehouse, of which Mr. Foy was also manager.
In 1948 seating was increased from 204 to 225.
On November 1, 1953, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Randall bought the theatre from the Foys. Mr. Randall has been commented on in Cinema Treasures as an operator of the local Nu Vu Drive-In.
