McRoberts, Kentucky was founded in 1912 by the Consolidated Coal Company. It was named for Samuel McRoberts a New York City banker who later became the co-owner. The theatre was located in the 2nd floor of the Recreation Building.
The infrastructure required to house some 2,100 employees was completed by 1916. A saw mill and a brick factory were built to provide the necessary materials. Photos of the area show extremely attractive homes and support buildings one of which contained a theatre.
The theatre must have been of some size since advertisements for it appear in newspapers of neighboring coal communities. The McRoberts Theatre was still open in 1938, but was listed as (Closed) in the 1939 thu 1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbook.

Uploaded an ad for the McRoberts with its June 1938 schedule which appeared in a Neon, Kentucky newspaper.
The theatre was located on the second floor of the Recreation Building, a photo of which I’ve uploaded. The building no longer exists.
