Item in Boxoffice magazine, September 25, 1937:
“The State, Peacedale, which the Stanzlers took over on lease last summer, will open within the next few days. Considerable improvements have been made to the house by the new lessees.”
There was an earlier-built theatre in Peacedale called the Peacedale Opera House, not far from Patsy’s Hall in this tiniest of villages.
In this photo, we see a variety show put on at Patsy’s Hall by the Peacedale Fire Department in 1959. David Pelton, Herbert Rice, and Bruce Slader do their own version of the “Kingstown Trio.” (from the volume Peace Dale, by Betty J. Cotter, in the “Images of America” series.)
Note the screen behind the singers. I wonder how late movies continued to be shown at the Peacedale Theatre.
Patsy’s Hall is a large brick building with some Colonial Revival details. It is also the largest building in the village area.
The address of Patsy’s Hall/Peacedale Theatre is 516 High Street.
Here’s a photo of the former Peacedale Theatre.

The placque on the front of the building says “Patsy’s Hall” and gives the year of completion as 1930.
I believe the Peacedale was known as the State Theatre at one time.
