The Strand opened on July 8, 1924 with Harold Lloyd in “Girl Shy.” It was fitted for sound to remain competitive. On April 23, 1936 it had grand reopening as the New Grand Theatre with “David Copperfield.” That may have been on a 15-year leasing agreement.
The Grand appears to have split time with the Corral Drive-In in the summer during its final years of operation. The Grand closed on April 12, 1952 with “Guilty Bystander” and “Nevada Badmen.” The Corral opened for the season. The Grand did not return in the Fall of 1952.
