1915 Sanborn Map

In September 1914 the Twentieth Century Theatre opened in the Savage Building on E. 6th Avenue near Broadway. Proprietors were Edward G. Elbe and William O. Kennedy. Royal Bennett and Bruce Hanter purchased the theatre in June 1915. In January 1916 local showman V.U. Young, who with colleague C.J. Wolf owned several inter-related companies that in turn owned and/or operated theatres, leased the theatre from Harry Hall. Young-Wolf already operated the Orpheum Theatre, Art Theatre and Grand Theatre. They would add the New Broadway in September 1916. It had closed by 1926.
