Located in Pelaw-on-Tyne to the east of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. The Grand Cinema was opened in 1912 at the corner of Joicey Street and Queen Victoria Street. The Grand Cinema had an 18ft deep stage with an orchestra pit, and during World War I (1914-1918) it operated as a cinema and live variety theatre. From 1921 it was operated by the Grand Picture Hall (Pelaw) Ltd. In 1928it was taken over by the Stanley Rogers chain (E.J.
