The White Tower Outdoor Theatre was opened on June 30, 1960 with Steve Reeves in “The Giant of Marathon” & Mamie Van Doren in “Girls Town”. The drive-in’s capacity was 297; its owner was Robert Hoffmann. By the end of the 1960 season it had been renamed 45 Outdoor Theatre.
On May 27, 1961 it opened the season as the Eagle River Outdoor Theatre with a capacity capacity for 300-cars. In 1973 a new owner S. Lind renamed it Eagle Outdoor Theatre. . The Eagle Outdoor Theatre was closed on September 4, 1988 with Tom Hanks in “Big” & Corey Haim in “Licence to Drive”.
A drive-in of the appropriate size appeared south of Eagle River in a 1966 aerial photo. It stayed intact through 1981, but was mostly gone by 1998. That drive-in’s address is 530 Highway 45 S, Eagle River, WI 54521.

The White Tower Outdoor Theatre launched on June 30, 1960 with “Giant of Marathon” supported by “Girls Town.” By the end of the season it was called the 45 Outdoor Theater. When it reopened for its second season on May 27, 1961, it was called the Eagle River Outdoor Theater. When it opened for the 1975 season under new operator, Steve Lind it was renamed as the Eagle Outdoor Theater (dropping “River”). Operator Lind closed for the season on September 4, 1988 with “Big” and “License to Drive.” The Eagle Outdoor Theater did not open for its 30th season. (BTW: it was never called the Eagle River Drive-In.)
