Majestic Theatre

The Majestic Theatre was located in the Holt building on W. Lamar Street and opened during the first week of November 1908 with a capacity of 400 seats. The theatre was first under the ownership of E.M. Viquesney and was first managed by William Woods of Savannah, Georgia.

The Majestic Theatre was short-lived, closing in 1909. Although its closing date has not been found yet, a July 1909 report from the Americus Time-Recorder said that R.S. Rose’s Horseshoeing store was relocated to P.L. Holt’s shop in the rear of the Majestic Theatre.
