University Scenario

The University Scenario was an open-air theater, or airdome, opened by two female University of Texas undergraduate students in 1912. They showed three films per evening, and some special programs supporting women’s suffrage, public health (distributing ice to poor families in hot summer weather), and yes, The United Daughters of the Confederacy. Nearby commercial theaters were frustrated by the competition and may have placed a role in its closure after 1912. Still researching…..
