As reported in the Marin County Tocsin, the Larkspur Town Hall opened November 1, 1913 and on June 18, 1916, played its first movies, “Excuse Me” starring George F. Marion and a serial, “The Red Circle” starring Ruth Roland.
By 1927 the San Anselmo Herald referred to Mr. Peterson as manager and thru 1929 Film Daily Year Books lists it as the Peterson Theatre with 600 seats.
Sanborn Maps 1924 show moving pictures on the second floor of the Town Hall, which is still there today in restored condition. It hasn’t changed from Architect C.O. Clausen’s design in Building and Industrial News, January 21, 1913.
