Mesa Drive-In

Not to be confused with the ‘old’ Mesa Drive-In which has its own page on Cinema Treasures. This Mesa Drive-In was opened on May 20, 1969 with Harvey Keitel in “Young Americans” & John Wayne in “The War Wagon”. It was last opened by United Artists and was closed at the end of the 1984 season.

It became a flea market which operated until 1992. It was demolished a short time later.

Based on HistoricAerials and that hand-drawn, west-on-top map, I would choose the modern-day address as either 2145 5th Ave, the office building that sits where the Mesa had been, or 888 Mitchell Ave, the exact spot of the Mesa’s entrance. Both are Zip Code 95965.

Damn. I’ve lived in Butte County since 1986 and this is the first I’ve heard of this theater.
