The Avalon Theatre was built by the Hawkins/Hudson Company and opened of October 3, 1924. It eventually lost out to the Valerie Theatre and closed around 1944. The theatre was later demolished to accommodate an expansion of the Coca Cola bottling plant in Inverness.

The Avalon did once close for more than a year during the late-1920s and early-1930s.
