Located to the south of the town centre. A deconsecrated former chapel, built in 1838 which had become disused, was converted in 1911 into the Electric Empire Kinema. Seats closest to the screen at the front of the auditorium used the former chapel’s long wooden pews, with regular seats at the rear of the auditorium. By 1922 it had been renamed Electric Kinema and was operated and owned by Mr. J. Harrison. It was closed in 1925.
The building then had several uses as a working men’s club, a newsagents, a dolls hospital and a Cooper’s off licence selling alcoholic drinks. The building still stands in 2019 as office space for an estate agent.
