ABC Cinema

Originally opened on 5th May 1937 as a single screen cinema with 580-seats. It specialised in screening children’s/family films and in 1938 Walt Disney’s animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was screened here. It was still a single screen into the 1960’s. In 1971 the ABC Cinema was converted to 5-screens and was given a new facade. It was under the same ownership as the Darcy Cinema & the Olympia Cinema. The ABC Cinema screened second run films long after their first run release. It was closed on 15th June 2011 and the building still stands boarded up in 2024.
