The 350-seat New Theatre was opened on March 14, 1947. The 350-seat Jay Theatre was opened by Herman Powell Jr. in 1961. He also operated the Queen Theatre in Tenaha, TX. The Jay Theatre was equipped to screen widescreen movies.
