Located in the east German town of Finsterwalde, to the north of Dresden. The 404-seat Weltspiegel-Kino was opened on October 9, 1912. It was designed by architectural firm Schmidt & Arnold based in Cottbus. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels. In the summer of 1920 it was enlarged to have 428-seats, again using the original architectural firm to carry out alterations. In 1926/1917 architect Kurt Vogeler redesigned the cinema and a cafe was added. In 1937 further alterations were carried out.
In 1959 the auditorium was modernised and adapted for CinemaScope films. In 1972 it was taken over by the Communist state. The entire exterior of the building was covered with metal cladding. In 1976 the cinema cafe was converted into an 80-seat second screen.
