Isis Theatre

This theatre supposedly opened on May 5, 1911, although the July 1911 Sanborn shows this building and its neighbors as ‘From Plans - To Be Stores’. It was originally operated by Edward Smith and Earnest Maag, but seems to have come under the ownership of the Wallis brothers.

The building is part a pair of simple two-story buildings constructed of local stone with rather plain buff brick facades. The theatre was closed sometime in 1924, prior to the opening of the new Mainstreet Theatre (later Dream Theatre) across the street. It was then used as retail.

It’s in very good shape today, although the storefronts have been replaced by new fill. It seems to be used as offices.
