Fern Theatre

The Magnet Theatre was opened sometime after 1905 in an old three story brick commercial building on the east end of downtown. The building was constructed before 1883, but expanded to the rear sometime before 1889. The 1905 map shows a saloon here.

This theater and an operation across the street were purchased on October 15, 1908 by Ed Lampson, who renamed this one the Fern Theater, while the theater across the street became the Palms Theater.

The theater remained in operation through 1913. Further history is unknown. This block has been very badly treated, and most of it has been demolished. The last 3-4 structures on this end were torn down many years ago, and the site is a parking lot.
