In June 1957, Boxoffice magazine noted that the Raja Drive-In of Charleston MS had opened for full-time (not just weekend) operation. The tone of the note suggested this was not a grand opening.

The Raja Drive-In appeared in the 1961 Motion Picture Almanac with a capacity of 200 cars, owner Prigmore.

The Mississippi Sun of Charleston carried advertisements for the Raja Drive-In regularly through September 1967. The July 3, 1969 edition announced a “Grand Reopening” of the Raja Drive-In with a free show. It listed its address as Highway 32 East. Boxoffice noted that the Raja Drive-In opened for the 1970 season on May 1.

In February 1973, Charleston Mobile Homes was advertising its location as on the “old” Raja Drive-In lot on Highway 32 east of Charleston.

Found It!

The address is 31047 Hwy 32, Charleston, MS.

A 1957 aerial shows the screen, but not the projection booth, so it appeared to be still under construction. A 1977 aerial shows the screen, ticket booth, and projection booth.

Today, the property is an auto salvage yard. Only the projection booth/concession stand still exists.
