The “Hayward Auto-Movies” opened on May 27, 1970, based on an advertisement the day before in the Oakland Tribune. It boasted of 120-feet screens and in-car heaters. The opening programs were “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice” with “Goodbye Columbus” and “MASH with Frank Sinatra’s "The Detective”.

Boxoffice announced on June 29, 1970 that the “new Motor Movies(sic), located at 28988 Hesperian Boulevard, Hayward, opened in late-May.” It had two screens and was managed by Bob Wallace.

A 1980 aerial photo showed a twin-screen drive-in, not there in 1968, where a Pepsi bottling plant now stands. It’s address is 29000 Hesperian Boulevard, just within the Hayward city limits. At least one screen was still intact in 1987, but the site had been razed by 1993.
