Virginia Ricketts writing in the Northside News on December 27, 1984, gave a history of Jerome’s earliest theatres. Jerome’s first was the 300-seat Lyric Theatre, which opened in February 1909 by Clarence Bays. In March 1909 Bays sold the Lyric Theatre to J.K. Hart, the building’s owner, who six months later moved it to the Overberg building on East Main Street.

Mrs. Ricketts noted at the time of her writing in 1984 the building was occupied by the Elks lodge.
