Menlo Moore was an operator of early silent movie theaters in Indiana. Moore often converted retail spaces or opera houses into movie houses. Moore opened the Crystal Theatre in downtown Bedford on July 21, 1908 with “A Child’s Prayer”, “At the Stage Door”, and “A Jolly Good Fellow”. He also converted the local opera house to a full-time theater.

H.E. McCarrell Amusements bought out Moore. And then McCarrell sold the venue in May of 1920 to United Exhibitors Productions Corporation. United operated the movie house to the end of the year.

The theatre closed for movies on December 25, 1920 with “She Tiger” and the Hallroom Boys in “Tell Me, Ouija”. After sporadic live events took place in the building, it was converted to a salesroom for Velie Motor Cars of Moline, Illinois late in 1921. The building was converted for multiple retailers and it was still standing and open in the 2020’s.
