The Morioka SY Uchimaru was one of the largest movie theaters in Iwate Prefecture with 480 seats. The nearby Central Theatre with 750-seats was the largest (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Morioka SY Uchimaru opened in 1916 and closed in May 1996.

Correction: The Morioka SY Uchimaru is not the largest movie theater in Morioka. The Central Theatre nearby was the largest with 750 seats when it opened in June 1935 which will have its own CT page soon.
