Teatro de la Ciudad

Built on the site of the Betancourt Theater (1877-1904) and the Centenario Theater (1910-1938) both destroyed by fire. The 3,400-seat Colonial Theater-Cinema was opened on 21st March 1947. It was designed by architect Arturo Olivero Cerdeno who was based in Monterrey. It was closed 1992.

Bought by City Council in 2000, it was restored and the seating capacity was reduced. It now operates as Teatro de la Ciudad (Theatre of the City).
