Built for the K.R. Blair circuit, the Kyle Cinema was opened in 1939. It was designed in an Art Deco style by noted cinema architect James McKissack (one of his last assignments, as he died in 1940, aged 65 years). The Kyle Cinema was equipped with a RCA sound system. By 1944 it was operated by Vineburgh Pictures Ltd.

In April 1946 the Kyle Cinema was taken over by George Palmer and was operated by his Associated G.P. Cinemas chain. It was renamed George Cinema. It was destroyed by a fire in February 1964.

George Palmer renovated and reopened his closed former Palace Picture House and renamed it George Cinema (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). That building was served a Compulsory Purchase Order and George took over the former Greens Cinema and renamed it George Cinema (it also has its own page on Cinema Treasures) as the WMR Cinema.
