The Alameda Theatre was a neighborhood venue built in the silent era during World War I. Mostly playing movies, the Alameda Theatre served an important function in silent era films in El Paso. A neighborhood theater, it was the only movie house that allowed persons of color to attend in El Paso. A boxing match took place on. October 17, 1919 between Otto Wallace and Bobby Waugh in a 15-round bout.

International Amusement Company Circuit ran the theatre along later with the Colon Theatre, Alcazar Theatre, Paris Theatre and Rex Theatre in El Paso. They showed both English language and Spanish language titles. The Alameda Theatre hosted a confectionery that served as the de facto concession stand for the theatre

International Amusement Co. transitioned the theatre to sound but sold out in 1933 to I.M. Lozano. It runs from 1933 to 1940 undoubtedly playing Spanish language films. El Paso Amusement bought the venue in 1940 deciding to raze the theatre in favor of the long-running and new-build Mission Theatre launching in 1941. (It has its own Cinema Treasures entry).
