Construction of the third Cinerama theater in Japan almost a whole year with an estimate of ¥1,200,000,000, which is almost $770,000 in United States money. The 1st to 4th floors housed the Chunichi Cinerama Theater, while the second basement floor housed a normal movie theater. The rest of the floors contain a cinetarium, a leisure center, and a bowling alley.

The 850-seat Chunichi Cinerama Theater had a giant screen measuring 30x11 meters, opening on Christmas Day 1964 with John Wayne in “Circus World”, while the 222-seat basement theater opened with a low-budget double-feature. A third screen with 140 seats was added around 1977, followed by a fourth screen with 40 seats around 1990, and a fifth screen with 50 seats on December 22, 1995.

Unfortunately, due to the multiplex rise across Nagoya, this forced many of its auditoriums across the plaza to close. At the time of its closure, Screen 1 had the largest screen in all of Japan before closing for the final time on September 24, 1999. Screen 3 held on a little longer before closing on November 5, 1999, leaving Screens 2, 4, and 5 as the only auditoriums operating until closing for the final time on February 15, 2004. Parts of the theater were converted into a discotheque called the OZON, but that also closed in 2004.

Plans were made to build a high-rise apartment building on the site, but this was postponed due to the Lehman Shock in 2008. Construction of the high-rise apartment building then began in 2016 and was completed in February 2019.
