The Firebaugh Motor-In was opened by 1951 when it was operated by Mr. & Mrs. C.S. Chestnut. The March 22, 1952 issue of Boxoffice mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Scott Chestnut, owners of the Columbia Theatre and the Firebaugh Drive-In.
The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog included the Firebaugh Drive-In, owned by C. S. Chestnutt and John C. Bowles, capacity 300 cars.
A 1955 aerial photo showed a drive-in along Highway 33 about 2.5 miles southeast of Firebaugh. It was still open in November 1961, but was closed soon after. Its screen was gone by 1965. A farm equipment supplier occupies the site today.

Boxoffice, May 11, 1957: “The Firebaugh Drive-In at Firebaugh is to be dismantled”
Despite that Boxoffice note, the Firebaugh Drive-In endured a little while longer. Around then, the Fresno Bee ran sporadic rundowns of what was showing at “Valley Theatres.” For Nov. 6, 1961, that included the Firebaugh showing “Two Mexican Features.” The next list I could find, May 18, 1963, did not include the Firebaugh.
That matched the aerial photo record. In June 1957, the drive-in looked intact. In 1961, it showed slight disrepair. In 1965 and 1967, the screen was gone.
