Stimulated by benefits in the G.I. Bill, returning soldiers built movie houses in unlikely small towns. After World War II, new theaters were built in diminutive locations including the Sylvia Theater in Sylvania, the Gerald Theater in Geraldine, and the Rog Theater in Pisgah. The Rog Theater was built by Thomas E. Rogers of the Air Force whose nickname was “Rog” - short for Rogers and pronounced Rahj - and Marshall Rogers.
Opening in 1948. Pigsah had just 200 citizens. The venue closed within two years and was offered for sale. It opened briefly under a new operator in 1951 before closing permanently. It was converted to other retail purposes.
