The 650-seat Opera House was opened in 1871. By 1914 it was screening movies. The Opera House was still operating as a movie theatre in 1957.
Later renamed Waynewsburg Theatre & Arts Center, the management were deeply committed to the continuation and preservation of the theatre, both for it’s architectural value and for it’s social importance in the community. It was closed in 2011.
