Bennettsville, South Carolina resident Ken Benson opened his first drive-in theater at the Florence Fairgrounds on July 8, 1946 with Preston Foster in “My Friend Flicka” (unknown if extras added).
It was a short-lived drive-in theater, and Benson closed his theater on August 21, 1948 with Robert Lowery in “God’s Country” (unknown if extras added) when he opened his Ace Drive-In (later the Bright Leaf Drive-In) the following day, on Highway 76.
